Milo is an app for learning English by speaking it. This policy explains exactly what we collect, why, and what we do not do. It is short because the app is built to need very little about you.
The short version. You can use Milo without an account, without an email address, and without a name. Your voice recordings are transcribed on our own server and are not sent to any third-party speech company. We do not sell your data, we do not share it with advertisers, and there are no third-party advertising or tracking SDKs in the app.
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Learning history โ your answers, review timings, streak, and which words you have proven you can produce | This is the product. Your Active Vocabulary score and your review schedule are computed from it. |
| A display name, native language, and time zone | To address you, explain grammar in your own language, and start your day at the right hour. |
| Your email address, only if you sign in with Apple or Google | So your progress survives a lost or replaced phone. If you use Apple's "Hide My Email", we only ever see the relay address. |
| Voice recordings, when you speak in a lesson or a Scene | To transcribe what you said and score your pronunciation. |
| What you type or say to the tutor, the coach, and in Scenes | To generate a reply and to explain the mistakes you actually make. |
| Usage events โ lessons started and finished, screens reached, subscription state | To know whether the app works: whether people's vocabulary really grows, and whether they stay. Stored in our own database. |
| A push notification token, if you allow notifications | To send your practice reminder. Turning notifications off stops this. |
Speech is the most personal thing you hand us, so it gets the strictest handling. Audio you record is uploaded to our server, transcribed there by a speech model that runs on our own infrastructure, scored for pronunciation, and then deleted. It is not sent to a third-party speech-recognition service, it is not retained as an audio archive, and it is never used to train anyone's model. What we keep is the result: the words you said and how clearly you said them.
That is the complete list of third parties. We do not sell personal data, and we do not disclose it for advertising or any other cross-context behavioural purpose โ under the CCPA or otherwise.
Your account and learning history are kept while your account exists, because losing them would lose your progress. Voice recordings are deleted immediately after they are transcribed. When you delete your account, everything tied to you is deleted with it.
You can delete your Milo account from inside the app: Profile โ Settings โ Delete account. This permanently removes your account, your learning history, your streak, your vocabulary and your conversations. It cannot be undone, and we do not keep a backup copy of it.
Deleting your account does not cancel an App Store subscription โ only Apple can do that. Cancel it first in Settings โ your name โ Subscriptions.
Wherever you live, you can ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it โ and deletion you can do yourself, instantly, in the app. If you are in the EEA or the UK, our legal basis is performance of our contract with you (running the app you asked for) and our legitimate interest in keeping it working. Email yilmazali325@gmail.com for anything else and we will answer.
Milo is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we will delete it.
Traffic is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Passwords, where used, are stored only as bcrypt hashes. Access to the production database is limited to the operators of the service. No system is perfect, and we will not pretend otherwise โ but we hold as little about you as the product allows, which is the most reliable protection there is.
If this policy changes materially, we will update the date at the top and tell you in the app before the change takes effect.
